We make our way by train from Topsham to Heathrow with no problems. We enjoy a picnic en route with a glass of wine provided by Mum, of course! Our check in is easy and we are through security in no time although Mum did cause a stir with her walking pole. After interrogation they felt happy that she wasn't a terrorist threat. Particularly after she told them all about our trip to Svalbard to see polar bears! It is easy to kill time and our flight leaves punctually at 17.30. We feel even better after a gin and tonic, Norwegian of course. A short stop in Oslo and we arrive in Longyearbyen at 1 am. It seems very strange that it is still light. The landscape looks like the ice age. Our hotel is comfortable and I am very tired.
